{Listen. Enjoy. Savor} Seasonal Retreats for the Soul

Our next retreat gathering is...

Friday, March 20, from 9 am to noon (Central Time)

Spring Equinox: Inner Refuge

Virtual Gathering via Zoom

Dear Steadfast Souls, πŸŒΏπŸŒ³πŸ’š

I’ve been wintering in Florida — walking the shoreline, finding shells and shark teeth, learning the names of new birds (black skimmers have stolen my heart), and letting the salt air work its quiet medicine.

It’s been a season of slowing amid a flurry of guests.
Of tending my nervous system.
Of listening beneath the noise — both inner and outer.

And now, as the light begins to shift and we enter the Year of the Fire Horse, I feel a steady readiness rising.

Spring Equinox is a threshold — a turning. A moment to root down and rise at the same time. An invitation to greater balance.

If you are in a season of transition — if something in you is thawing, stirring, becoming — I invite you to gather with me for:

πŸ’šπŸŒΏπŸŒ³Inner RefugeπŸŒ³πŸŒΏπŸ’š

A Spring Equinox Virtual Mini-Retreat

Friday, March 20
9:00 am – Noon (Central)
Live on Zoom (recording available)

This will be a sacred, steady space to:

• Come home to yourself
• Root into inner refuge amidst shifting winds
• Honor who you are becoming
• Listen for what is emerging in this next season of your life

Our guiding archetypal supports will include:

🌳 Live Oak — safety, strength, resilience
🌿 Snowy Owl — stillness as a portal
πŸ’Ž Aquamarine — clarity and depth

As always, you can expect:

  • Guided meditation and seasonal ritual
  • Solo sacred listening time
  • Gentle group sharing
  • Reflection practices for the season ahead
  • A bespoke Spotify playlist
  • Practices to help you stay steady and centered this spring
The message that arrived for this Equinox gathering was this:

"This is a season of becoming,
of remembering,
of honoring who you are.

It is time to thaw and emerge,
and also to root down deep.

The winds around you are strong and shift.
It's easy to feel off-center, and maybe even disoriented....
But you can return to yourself,
to the unchanging core of you
and find refuge within."

If this speaks to you — if you are navigating a season of transition and seeking the refuge of inner steadiness — I would be honored to hold this space with you.

What is Listen. Enjoy. Savor.?

Seasonal mini-retreats designed to help you slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with the wisdom already alive within you.

Held at the turning points of the year — either on the sacred land and labyrinth of my home, Dancing Oak House in Eagle, WI, or virtually via Zoom — these gatherings offer a steady space to pause, reflect, and realign.

Each retreat is inspired by the season we are entering and shaped by the needs of the group. While the themes shift, every gathering includes:

• Time for personal inner listening — with Nature and your own deeper knowing
• Space to slow down and savor the present moment
• A supportive circle grounded in respect and authenticity
• Freedom to engage in ways that feel true to you
• Ritual, reflection, guided meditation, and practical tools for living the season with intention

My Approach as a Facilitator

I resonate deeply with Angeles Arrien’s credo to “walk the mystical path with practical feet,” and that spirit guides everything I offer.

For over two decades, I’ve held space for women (and a few brave men!) navigating growth, creativity, healing, and transition — as a teacher, facilitator, depth coach, and guide. My work weaves intuitive listening, nature-based wisdom, archetypal insight, and grounded life experience.

I bring both lived understanding and practical tools.

I offer steady companionship, clear reflection, and a safe space for you to reconnect with your own inner authority.

Since 2016, I’ve facilitated seasonal retreats on the land I call home in Eagle, Wisconsin, nestled near the Kettle Moraine State Forest. I hold deep respect for this land and honor that it rests on the traditional territories of the Peoria, Sauk, Meskwaki, Potawatomi, and Očeti ŠakówiΕ‹ (Sioux) peoples.

Save the Date!

Summer Solstice * Friday, June 19, 2026 9 am to noon (in-person; held at our home in Eagle, WI) or via Zoom on Saturday June 20, 2026

PS Closing with encouragement from writer Roxane Gay:

“One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself as a writer is to take yourself seriously. This does not mean you should take yourself too seriously, but it does mean that if you love writing, if you put in the work of writing, you are a writer. You don’t need to ask anyone if you can call yourself a writer. You don’t need to reach a certain publishing threshold. So long as you put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard, you are a writer.

And if you are a writer, you want to respect your craft the same way you respect the other important things in your life. Make time for your writing whether it’s writing itself, reading, participating in the literary community or anything else that contributes meaningfully to your creative life. Write regularly, which does not mean you need to write every day but does mean that your work will be stronger if you are consistent. When you make a time to write, honor that commitment to yourself and your creative work as much as you honor all the other commitments in your life."

About Me

Since 1998, when I taught my first writing class, I have been passionate about inspiring others to write. I have taught more than 1,000 writing students, spoken at writing conferences (including the Midwest Writer's Conference, Great Lakes Writer's Conference and Fox Valley Writer's Conference) and have been a book "doula" and developmental editor for almost a dozen published books. My strengths are being an inspiration catalyst and encouraging cheerleader for writers. I am the author of two books — Flowering Wisdom: Inspiring Thoughts on Life, Love and Blooming Big (Self-Published) and Everybody Loves Ice Cream: The Whole Scoop on America's Favorite Treat (Emmis Books) and the past editor-in-chief of Ohio Magazine, an award-winning 100,000 circulation magazine featuring the best of the Buckeye State. My varied background also includes public radio producing, newspaper reporting, magazine writing, and corporate communications. For the past decade, my focus has been on serving creatives and spiritual seekers through my shamanic-based energy work, intuitive guidance and Human Design readings and in offering seasonal retreats for inner listening, community sharing and creative ritual at her home in the forest of southeastern Wisconsin and via Zoom.
